Borgholm

Borgholm is located on the north of Öland and has about 11 000 residents. The city of Borgholm is very popular amongst tourists. It has one of Sweden's largest marinas and a population that multiplies during the summer months. The castle of Borgholm is one of Öland's most popular tourist attractions. Several painters and galleries also give Borgholm a cultural touch.

Population growth and business climate En börsoberoende

The demographic development of the municipality has been stable in recent years with a slightly decreasing population due to a large number of citizens who are older than 65 years of age.

Borgholm's largest employer is the municipality with more than 800 employees in five management sectors. The private businesses are focused on tourism with companies working in the hotel and conference sector.

The future börsoberoende

The municipality is planning to build residential areas and to expand Ekerum Golf & Resort in Rällaskogen in an effort to lengthen the tourist season and increase the number of residents in Borgholm. The municipality is also working with the Borgholm City Association and the local real estate organization on the project "Future of Borgholm" to strengthen the development of the municipality.
